Wix to Framer: migration check
Usually; Velo code is the only part that needs real translation.
What maps where
- Dynamic pagesCMS collections and detail pagesNative
- Wix FormsFramer FormsNative
- AnimationsEffects, no codeNative
- Velo codeCode components and overridesCode component
- Wix BookingsCalendly or Cal.com embedExternal
- Wix StoresStripe links or Shopify embedExternal
Where it gets tricky
- Wix has no site export. Blog posts, products, and member data come out through the Wix API or by hand, so content migration gets budgeted before anything visual starts.
- Velo scripts call proprietary APIs ($w, wix-data) that exist nowhere else. Nothing ports; list what each script does and decide what earns a Framer code component.
- Wix pins blog posts under /post/ and often serves a /home duplicate of the root. The redirect map ends up bigger than the sitemap suggests.
Questions that come up
Can my Velo customizations be recreated?
Usually, as Framer code components. Velo code does not copy across; it gets rewritten. So the honest first step is listing what the code actually does and rebuilding only what still earns its place.
Will moving off Wix hurt my search traffic?
Not if URLs are treated with respect. Pages keep their paths in Framer where possible and 301 redirects cover the rest. Most Wix sites also gain real speed in the move, which helps rather than hurts.
What about Wix Bookings and Stores?
They keep working. Bookings usually becomes a Calendly or Cal.com embed; a working store stays where it is while Framer takes the marketing site. Nothing that makes you money gets turned off for a migration.
